For your final assignment for the course, you will be writing a report on LAC students' computer usage habits both as required by their courses and in their work outside of class. As the term progresses, we will be designing the assessment instrument, collecting data with this instrument, analyzing the data, and then reporting our findings.
The report of these findings will have multiple audiences, both internal and external to the campus (e.g., the dean or technology staff on other campuses). Make sure when you write your report that it takes these readers into account. For example, provide a one-page executive summary for those readers who have limited time to spend on the material.
It is helpful when you are framing how you will design your report to remember three key things. Make sure your report will be...
Appealing
You want people to want to read what you have found.
User-friendly
You want it to be relatively easy for your readers to find the information they are looking for.
Actionable
You want to provide your readers with a concrete set of recommendations that they can consider for implementation.
Feeling a little overwhelmed? Don't worry. We will be working on different aspects of the project during most class periods. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get guidance. Just be sure that you do not leave things until the last minute. This project will take some time to do well.
